Gulu City’s very own Lakaraber Giovana has just added a sparkling new title to her name: Miss Tourism Northern Region 2024/25! This 20-year-old beauty, currently enjoying her senior six vacation, dazzled the judges and audience at the colorful event held at Lira Hotel in Lira City over the weekend.

Lakaraber didn’t just win; she triumphed over 10 other stunning contestants to clinch this prestigious title. Talk about girl power! The talented young queen is now setting her sights on studying either law or human rights at university—brains and beauty, a lethal combo.

Our reigning queen took over the crown from the fabulous Miss Pamela Acaa, Miss Tourism Northern Uganda 2023/24. During an exclusive interview with our reporter, Lakaraber shared her ambitious plans to promote sustainable tourism. How? By documenting all the breathtaking tourism sites in Northern Uganda and sharing them on social media. Get ready for your feeds to be flooded with Northern Uganda’s hidden gems!

The competition was fierce, with Atimango Judith, another S.6 vet from Gulu City, securing the first runner-up position. The second runner-up title went to the lovely Atina Lucky Bianca, a student from Lira University. These ladies brought their A-game and we’re all here for it.

The theme for this year’s Miss Tourism pageant was “Tourism and Peace,” a perfect backdrop for these queens to shine. And the excitement doesn’t stop here—Lakaraber, along with her fellow beauty queens, will represent Northern Uganda in the grand finals of Miss Tourism on September 13 in Kampala. Mark your calendars, folks!

Stay tuned as we follow Lakaraber’s journey. From Forgod Parish to the national stage, this queen is set to make waves and we can’t wait to see her reign. Cheers to Northern Uganda’s newest crown jewel!
