In the early hours of January 3, 2024, assailants attempted an aggravated robbery at the residence of former Kawempe South MP Mubarak Munyagwa in Kimbejja Cell, Budo Ward, Kyengera Town Council.

Thanks to a timely tip-off received at 3 A.M., the Nsangi Territorial Police, led by the Division Police Commander, thwarted the robbery.

The security guard, Benjamin Mpaka, sustained a head injury during the incident and was swiftly transported to Mulago for medical treatment. Fortunately, no one else in the house was harmed.

The police team, facing challenging weather conditions, managed to apprehend a suspect attempting to flee the scene in a Datsun pick-up with registration number UAK 182A.

The captured suspect is currently in custody, assisting ongoing police investigations. Contrary to misleading social media posts, no shooting occurred at Hon. Munyagwa’s residence; the assailants were armed only with sharp objects.

Police commended Munyagwa for promptly reporting the incident, facilitating an effective response to ensure the safety of life and property
