Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) president and singer Cinderella ‘Cindy’ Sanyu has dismissed claims that her and some of her subordinates had joined Eddy Kenzo’s – led Uganda National Musicians Federation ( UNMF) earlier today.

This comes shortly after numerous allegations which have been making rounds on social media indicating that Cindy’s UMA had scrammed to pressure and submitted to Eddy Kenzo’s newly formed musicians federation.

Further the rumors suggested that Cindy together with her UMA team that included Big Eye as Treasurer in engaged in 6 hours closed door meeting with UNMF’s top heads at UNFM offices in Mutundwe and accepted officially to work to with Eddy Kenzo’s led UNMF after understanding that UNMF is legal and consists of several legitimate associations.

However ,Cindy through her social media pages has asked UMA members not believe in such propaganda that UMA has joined Eddy Kenzo’s federation, however she acknowledged that discussions are ongoing and that they are working towards a positive result.

“As Uma, we have always wanted to federate but it is the terms of federating which are an issue. If the terms are favourable, Uma will federate but for now let no one fool you,Uma hasn’t joined the Uganda National Musicians Federation.

The music industry is huge and inclusiveness is important. Let us not forget our allies eg Writers, producers, managers, publishers etc It would make more sense to federate according to the value chain and not only us Musicians.
Discussions are ongoing and we’re working towards a positive result.
