About Raising The Village

Raising The Village (RTV) is an international development organization dedicated to ending ultra-poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa. With over 120 national staff in Uganda and a North American team, we focus on agricultural development, water and sanitation, and financial inclusion through a gender transformative and community-driven approach. Our mission is to lift communities out of ultra-poverty, reaching one million people annually by 2027.

Job Overview

We are seeking 10 Project Assistants to support the implementation and management of our programs across various locations in Northern Uganda. The role involves substantial travel within the region, facilitating training, supporting community groups, and ensuring the effective execution of project methodologies.

Responsibilities

Project Implementation:

  • Coordinate and co-facilitate training activities (financial literacy, health sanitation, agriculture, etc.).
  • Implement RTV’s project methodologies to increase household income and reduce poverty.
  • Manage procurement and logistics for project needs.
  • Verify and distribute goods/inputs, and ensure project compliance.
  • Identify risks, provide mitigation measures, and conduct regular performance meetings.

Reporting and Administration:

  • Develop and manage work plans.
  • Provide weekly field reports and support donor reporting.
  • Participate in staff and cluster team meetings.
  • Manage financial requests and accountabilities.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Provide feedback and recommendations to improve project methodologies.
  • Suggest activities for sustainability and project improvement.

Required Qualifications

Technical and Administrative Skills:

  • Strong training and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and local languages.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Understanding of Community-Based Development Principles.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and flexibility.
  • Energetic, with the physical ability to travel and hike in high terrain.
  • Motorbike riding skills are an advantage.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Social Work, Humanities, Community Development, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience at the village level.

Work Hours: 8 hours/day
