TrueNorth Consult Ltd is a leader in the consulting industry, working on large-scale projects such as the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP). This project spans Uganda and Tanzania and includes a nearshore Marine Storage and Export Terminal. The EACOP is designed to transport crude oil from Kabaale – Hoima in Uganda to the Chongoleani Peninsula near Tanga Port in Tanzania.
Job Summary:
As the Field Manager/Deputy Operations Director, you will oversee all field operations related to the EACOP project in Uganda. Your role will encompass ensuring site readiness during construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup phases. You will also manage operational activities during the operational phase to achieve safety and transportation targets, ensuring compliance with safety and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Management: Direct and coordinate all Uganda operational activities, including safety, environmental, and maintenance targets.
- Leadership: Substitute for the Operational Director as needed, ensuring proper reporting and meeting management.
- Safety Management: Maintain asset safety, follow up on near misses, dangerous occurrences, and accidents to prevent recurrence.
- Procedures & Coordination: Ensure operational procedures are current and implemented, and oversee coordination during project phases and operational activities.
- Staff Management: Manage, motivate, and develop staff, including overseeing appraisals and training.
- Best Practices: Identify and promote industry best practices, and maintain a focus on value awareness and lean management.
Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities:
- Fully comply with H3SE policies and Life Saving Rules.
- Actively participate in HSEQ activities and promote a safety culture.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace.
Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Industrial, Mechanical) or equivalent.
- Proficiency in English.
Experience Required:
- Minimum of 15 years of field operations experience, preferably in onshore assets.
- Leadership experience as a Site Manager or equivalent.
- Demonstrated capabilities in HSE, personnel management, and operational matters.
