Organizational Context: As a Security Associate, you will play a crucial role in providing security support to WFP activities in the Karamoja Area Office (Moroto and Kotido) and the Tororo Sub-Office. You will report to the Head of the Area Office for Karamoja and the Head of the Sub-Office in Tororo for administrative and operational issues and to the Head of Security at the Country Office for technical security matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and report on security threats and risks affecting WFP operations.
- Analyze security-related information and prepare reports.
- Provide weekly security updates and conduct regular security assessments.
- Coordinate with local authorities, UN/NGO security staff, and other actors to ensure safe program delivery.
- Prepare detailed security assessment reports and advise on risk management.
- Manage security equipment, ensure compliance with security standards, and maintain access control procedures.
- Represent WFP at inter-agency security meetings and facilitate security training sessions.
Functional Capabilities:
- Strategic and operational understanding of security risk management.
- Ability to manage security resources and develop solutions for security challenges.
- Effective planning and compliance with security policies and emergency management.
Qualifications:
- Education: University degree in Community Psychology, Social Work, Social Sciences, or related fields. A diploma from Military/Police Academy with relevant experience may be accepted.
- Experience: Minimum of six years in security operations or related fields with experience in administrative work.
- Skills: Technical knowledge of security operations, ability to manage emergencies, strong communication skills, and proficiency in English. Knowledge of local Ugandan languages is an advantage.
