Catholic Priest Fr. Dominic Alinga has been arrested for the stabbing of Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) worker John Bosco. The horrifying incident unfolded after Bosco requested repayment of a loan amounting to 11 million Ugandan Shillings.
An audio message circulating on various WhatsApp groups revealed that Fr. Dominic, a friend of John Bosco, had arranged to meet him to finalize some transactions. Fr. Dominic visited Bosco’s home and suggested they travel to Entebbe together.
As they neared the UN Base in Entebbe, Fr. Dominic allegedly pulled out a sharp machete and attacked Bosco. The injuries proved fatal, and Bosco was pronounced dead at Entebbe Grade B Hospital due to severe knife wounds.
An audio message on WhatsApp expressed the deep sorrow within the community: “Comrades, Kampala Metro, good afternoon. Yesterday was a dark day for us as a family. Our colleague, a diligent and punctual man, is no more,” it began.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Bosco had lent a significant amount of money to Fr. Dominic. When Bosco demanded repayment, the priest resorted to violence, leading to this tragic event. Bosco drove Fr. Dominic to Entebbe, where the attack occurred. Despite Bosco’s efforts to defend himself, he was severely injured.
A passing boda boda rider attempted to help by taking Bosco to the hospital, but Fr. Dominic, driving Bosco’s car, knocked them down in a further attempt to escape.
Before succumbing to his injuries, Bosco managed to call his mother, informing her of the attack. His last words to her were a desperate plea for help. The community has rallied to support Bosco’s family, with many members actively involved in the aftermath.
Bosco’s body was transferred to the A-plus home, and arrangements for his burial have been made. A mass is scheduled for 8 a.m. to honor him, with a large attendance expected as a testament to his impact on the community.
Fr. Dominic was on the run following the incident but has since been apprehended. He is being transported to Kampala for further legal proceedings.
