President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni announced that the Minister for Education and Sports and First Lady Janet Museveni, has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement released on Thursday afternoon President Museveni revealed that mama Janet is now in isolation, experiencing weakness, constant headaches, and a sore throat.

“After a family lunch on Christmas day, Maama began feeling a sandy sensation in her throat. Although the Rapid Corona test was negative, a subsequent PCR test in Mbarara confirmed her positive status,” President Museveni shared via his official communication channel.

President Museveni, currently at Rwakitura with his wife, will continue with activities not involving the First Lady.

He expressed surprise at testing negative despite close contact, pondering whether his previous survival of the virus played a role.

He further acknowledged that Janet as a first-time corona warrior, stating that she is managing well.
