How Pastor Bugingo Drove Himself to Hospital After His Bodyguard Was Shot Dead

The Old Kampala Police are delving into the shocking attempted murder of Pastor Aloysious Bugingo from the House of Prayer Ministry which occurred on January 2nd, 2024 that saw the tragic killing of his loyal bodyguard, Muhumuza Richard. The heart-wrenching episode occurred around 9 PM when unidentified assailants opened fire on Pastor Bugingo’s distinctive vehicle, bearing the plate PRAIZ GOD, along Namungona in Zone 2, Kasubi, Rubaga Division, Kampala. The assailants, swift in their actions, made a hasty escape on a motorcycle after the violent assault unfolded at Bwalakata Junction along National Housing Road.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, despite sustaining injuries during the vicious attack, Pastor Aloysious Bugingo showcased an extraordinary display of resilience. With courage in the face of adversity, he took control of the situation, steering his vehicle to Mulago Hospital for urgent medical attention. Regrettably, his bodyguard, Muhumuza Richard, bore the brunt of the assailants’ aggression, succumbing to the attack and being declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. Pastor Bugingo is currently undergoing medical treatment, closely monitored by healthcare professionals.

“Despite sustaining injuries during the attack, Pastor Aloysious Bugingo managed to transport the vehicle to Mulago Hospital. Regrettably, his bodyguard, Muhumuza Richard, succumbed to the assault and was confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital. Currently, Pastor Bugingo is undergoing medical treatment and is under close monitoring,” ASP Luke Owoyesigyire said.

The police, quick to respond to the distressing incident, found the crime scene tampered with upon arrival. Eyewitness accounts have been meticulously recorded, and the deceased’s body has been transported to the City Mortuary at Mulago for a comprehensive postmortem examination.

ASP Owoyesigyire added: “Statements from eyewitnesses have been diligently recorded, and the deceased’s body has been conveyed to the City Mortuary at Mulago for a thorough postmortem examination.”

As the investigation unfolds, the city holds its breath, grappling with the shockwaves of an incident that has not only claimed a life but has also spotlighted the indomitable spirit of a pastor who steered himself through peril to seek medical aid.
