The Inspector General of Government (IGG), Lady Justice Naluzze Aisha Batala, has ordered the immediate suspension of seven senior officials of the Parliament of Uganda who are facing corruption-related charges before the Anti-Corruption Court.
In a directive issued on July 31, 2026, Justice Batala instructed the Clerk to Parliament, Adolf Mwesige, to suspend the officials from duty until their criminal cases are finally determined.
Among those affected is Chris Obore, the former Director of Communications and Public Affairs, alongside other senior officials from Parliament’s Human Resource Directorate, Directorate of Research, Office of the Speaker and Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms.
Officials Facing Corruption Charges
The seven officials were charged before the Anti-Corruption Court on July 1, 2026, over allegations including embezzlement and causing financial loss to government.
They are currently on remand at Luzira Prison as the court proceedings continue.
The IGG’s latest directive means the accused officials should not continue performing their official duties while the criminal proceedings are ongoing.
IGG Moves To Protect Parliament’s Integrity
Justice Batala said the interdiction was issued in accordance with the constitutional mandate of the Inspectorate of Government to promote accountability and protect the integrity of public institutions.
The directive comes amid increased scrutiny of financial management within Parliament, with several senior officials facing investigations and prosecution over alleged misuse of public funds.
The development further intensifies the government’s ongoing anti-corruption campaign, as authorities continue to push for greater accountability among public officials.

The accused officials remain innocent until proven guilty by a competent court.
