Pastor Robert Kayanja of Rubaga Miracle Centre Cathedral has addressed his congregation over the long-running court case in which he is the complainant, insisting that the matter is still active and dismissing claims circulating on social media that he has been convicted.
Kayanja said the case of Uganda vs Ssentongo Reagan & 8 Others remains before Mwanga II Magistrates Court and that he personally initiated the report to police.
The case dates back to 2021 and involves nine youths accused of giving false information to police, fabricating evidence relating to allegations of sodomy against Kayanja, conspiracy-related offences and trespassing at Rubaga Miracle Centre Cathedral. The accused have denied the allegations.
During his address, Kayanja claimed that police doctors Sam Kalungi and Bwambale testified that none of the accused showed medical signs consistent with sodomy.
The pastor has also previously accused rival pastors Jackson Senyonga and David Kiganda of allegedly funding bloggers and media outlets to circulate defamatory claims against him. Those allegations have been disputed, with the wider dispute involving competing accusations over the reporting of the case.
Kayanja has further said he took legal action against Kingdom TV, accusing the station of misrepresenting proceedings in the case.
The trial has recently focused on evidence involving translations and transcriptions of audio and video recordings produced through Makerere University. The defence abandoned a proposed Makerere University witness after raising concerns about the witness, subsequently bringing its case to a close.
Earlier, the court rejected a defence attempt to introduce a UBC transcriber as a last-minute witness, ruling that doing so at that stage could prejudice the prosecution.
The court has now moved the matter towards final submissions, with both sides expected to file their submissions by December 9, 2026, after which the case will proceed towards judgment.
Importantly, the ongoing trial means that no final verdict has been delivered in the case. The allegations against the nine accused remain matters before court and should not be treated as established facts until the judicial process is concluded.
Pastor Robert Kayanja responded the case is still on going and he is the one who reported https://t.co/mqwfIR3dHV
