Ugandan TikToker Benita Nakabugo, popularly known as Benitah MadamViolence, has opened up, saying she lost her job at The Matcha Space, a cafe in Bahrain, due to high pressure from National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters.
Nakabugo, who has more than 1.2 million TikTok followers, took to X to address the controversy, saying NUP supporters repeatedly contacted the cafe and posted negative comments and reviews after her political remarks following Uganda’s January 2026 elections.
According to Nakabugo, the pressure eventually resulted in her being fired from the establishment.
“They have done exactly what you wanted.” she wrote, adding that she had now lost her job.
She questioned whether her dismissal would change the country’s political leadership, sarcastically asking whether losing her job would make Bobi Wine President of Uganda.
“So, let me see if losing my job is going to make Bobi Wine the President of Uganda. If that was the mission, congratulations—you succeeded,” she wrote.
The controversy reportedly began after Nakabugo commented on the outcome of the January 2026 presidential election, reminding her followers that NUP leader Bobi Wine had lost to President Yoweri Museveni.
Her remarks angered some NUP supporters, who reportedly turned their attention to her workplace, with negative comments and reviews directed at The Matcha Space.
Nakabugo has now asked those involved to stop contacting the business, saying the campaign had achieved its intended result.
The incident has divided opinion online, with some users condemning what they view as an attack on someone’s livelihood because of political views, while others have argued that her political comments were provocative given the tensions surrounding the election.
