A 35-year-old social media content creator, Abdallah Bogere, aka Sir True-Leader has been remanded to prison after appearing before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court over allegations of spreading false information against Hajjat Namyalo.
Bogere, popularly known as “True Leader”, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ritah Neumbe Kidasa on Friday and denied a charge of sending false distress signals under the Uganda Communications Act.
Prosecution alleges that between August 3 and 4, 2026, Bogere and others still at large used TikTok accounts, including @trueleader123 and @Planned Mulekwa, to circulate claims that they had stolen Shs7 billion from Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, head of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) of the NRM.
Bogere pleaded not guilty. His lawyer, Lydia Nakimpi, applied for bail and presented three proposed sureties, including his wife and relatives.
The prosecution asked for time to verify the proposed sureties before the bail application could be considered.
Magistrate Kidasa subsequently remanded Bogere to prison and adjourned the case to August 17, 2026.
The allegations have not been proved in court, and Bogere remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
