In a candid interview with Urban TV’s Spectrum Ekimeeza show, Mesach Semakula, the renowned band musician, voiced his frustration regarding the persistent stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS. The artist, popularly known as the Golden Papa, disclosed how he and fellow singer Ronald Mayinja have continuously faced accusations and castigation from the public regarding their HIV/AIDS status.

Despite not confirming their HIV/AIDS status, Mesach Semakula emphasized the need to eradicate the stigma associated with the virus. He asserted that individuals should not be ostracized or condemned for living with HIV/AIDS, as it does not signify the end of life.

“We have grown up while being accused by revelers of being HIV/AIDS but all the time, I’ve never seen Ronald Mayinja gain or lose weight or looks. Mayinja is being accused innocently caz that’s his nature,” Mesach Semakula remarked, challenging the assumptions made about their health.

“The good thing is our AIDS doesn’t kill. It has given us everlasting and a happy life and we are grateful for that,” he continued, expressing gratitude for the quality of life despite the challenges.

Mesach Semakula concluded by reflecting on the complexity of life’s journey, urging for understanding and acceptance rather than judgment and discrimination towards those living with HIV/AIDS.
