The Electoral Commission has officially declared Paddy Kisembo, the ruling party flagbearer, as the new LC5 Chairperson of Kikuube District following a decisive victory in the by-election.
The announcement was made by Kikuube District Returning Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Twine, who confirmed that Kisembo had secured a commanding win over his rivals.
The by-election was conducted following the tragic death of the former and recently re-elected district chairperson, Peter Banura Araali, who lost his life in a road accident on April 4, 2026.

Initially scheduled for June 10, the poll date was later rescheduled after consultations with key stakeholders during a meeting held at the district headquarters on April 27. According to the Electoral Commission Chairperson, Justice Simon Byabakama, the adjustment was made after broad stakeholder input to ensure a smooth electoral process.
“The Electoral Commission wishes to inform the public that the polling date for the by-election of the District Chairperson for Kikuube District has been rescheduled,” Byabakama said.
In the final tally announced this evening, National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Paddy Kisembo emerged victorious with 26,612 votes, defeating Fenekansi Timanyire of the National Unity Platform(NUP) , who polled 8,712 votes.
The Returning Officer confirmed Kisembo’s election as the duly elected LC5 Chairperson for Kikuube District, describing the outcome as a clear and decisive mandate from voters.

Officials noted that the wide margin of victory reflects a strong voter preference, cementing Kisembo’s position as the district’s new political leader
