Job Summary:
We are seeking dedicated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as Assistant Quality Controllers in Lira, Masaka, and Mbale. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our products adhere to the highest quality standards. As an Assistant Quality Controller, you will be involved in product inspections, process monitoring, and maintaining quality control records.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Hygiene and Sanitation:
    • Enforce hygiene and sanitation practices within the bakery.
  2. Product Quality Checks:
    • Inspect finished products and guide production teams on defect correction.
  3. Process Monitoring:
    • Ensure adherence to production processes from mixing to packaging.
  4. Quality Control Records:
    • Maintain records of quality checks, test results, and corrective actions.
  5. Product Inspection:
    • Conduct inspections at various production stages, monitoring appearance, texture, taste, and consistency.
  6. Testing and Sampling:
    • Perform moisture content tests, weight checks, and ingredient assessments. Collect and analyze samples for microbiological testing.
  7. Documentation and Record-Keeping:
    • Keep detailed records of quality checks and corrective actions.
  8. Compliance and Standards:
    • Adhere to Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) guidelines and internal standards like HACCP.
  9. Training and Education:
    • Train production staff on quality standards and best practices.
  10. Problem-Solving:
    • Address quality issues swiftly and collaborate on process improvements.
  11. Customer Feedback:
    • Analyze feedback to identify improvement areas and collaborate on refining processes.
  12. Audit and Review:
    • Conduct audits and review quality control procedures for continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background:
    • Diploma or advanced certificate in Food Science and Technology, Bakery Science and Technology, Chemical Engineering (Food Processing), Biotechnology (Food Applications), Agricultural Science (Food Production), or Industrial Chemistry (Food Additives).
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience in the bakery industry is advantageous but not required.
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
