Position Summary
ALIGHT is seeking a Protection Manager to lead our protection programming efforts across various programs in Uganda. Reporting to the Team Leader with technical supervision from the Protection Lead, you will oversee day-to-day operations of the Protection team, manage budgets, and ensure effective implementation of protection activities in collaboration with UNHCR and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Staff Supervision & Development
- Mentor and build the capacity of protection staff across multiple sub-sectors.
- Promote a positive team environment and facilitate professional development.
- Grant Planning & Project Implementation
- Lead the implementation of protection programs, ensuring goals are met and activities are monitored and evaluated.
- Prepare timely reports and updates for donors and stakeholders.
- Technical Quality/Programme Management
- Provide guidance on safe data collection and maintain referral pathways for protection concerns.
- Develop standard operating procedures for protection activities.
- Reporting and Advocacy
- Analyze protection data to inform strategy and reporting.
- Coordination & Representation
- Build relationships with UNHCR and other stakeholders, representing ALIGHT’s interests.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Psychology, Development Studies, or related field.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in humanitarian settings, especially in GBV or child protection.
- Strong management, communication, and report writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Motorbike riding experience is preferred; proficiency in Swahili and local languages is a plus.

Position Summary
ALIGHT is looking for a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning/FRRM Officer to support our programs in Uganda. Reporting to the Programme Manager, you will facilitate the planning and execution of monitoring and evaluation activities, ensuring quality standards are met and providing essential feedback for learning and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- M&E Planning & Implementation
- Develop and monitor annual field M&E and FRRM plans.
- Manage databases to track program implementation and results.
- Data Collection & Analysis
- Develop tools for data collection and analyze results to inform program activities.
- Conduct assessments and surveys to evaluate program progress.
- Reporting & Communication
- Prepare and disseminate MEL/FRRM reports with actionable recommendations.
- Build relationships with stakeholders to share relevant information.
- Capacity Building
- Train program sector leads on M&E and data management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Demography, Statistics, or a relevant field (PGD in M&E is an advantage).
- At least 3 years of experience in program management and M&E.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and database management tools.
