Panic at Buwanda Primary School in Nawampiti, Luuka District, after 25 pupils were reportedly poisoned after eating white ants brought to school by one of their classmates.
The incident happened on Thursday, with the affected pupils rushed to Kiyunga Health Centre IV, where they are receiving treatment and being closely monitored.
Luuka Resident District Commissioner Michael Kibwika confirmed the incident, saying all the affected pupils were under medical management.
According to preliminary information from the RDC, one pupil reportedly brought the white ants to school and shared them with fellow pupils before disappearing from the school.
Authorities are now searching for the pupil as investigations continue into how the insects became contaminated and where they came from.
