Position Overview:

PostBank Uganda is seeking two qualified Applications Support Officers. In this role, you will be responsible for the proactive identification, isolation, and resolution of issues within our Business applications. You will ensure uptime and availability of platforms and services, address customer trouble tickets escalated from front-end teams, and maintain efficient operations and maintenance of Business Applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor IT applications’ uptime and performance using tools, alerts, and dashboards.
• Analyze and resolve application-related issues escalated from Level 2 support, maintaining proper documentation.
• Coordinate with application vendors for bug fixes or enhancement requests.
• Manage all application-related calls, problems, and incidents, ensuring follow-up and resolution.
• Schedule, plan, and execute installations, upgrades, and patches for applications.
• Collect system enhancement and reporting requirements from users and work with the IT team to develop specifications.
• Perform system capacity monitoring and analysis, troubleshoot network issues, and escalate problems to vendors.

Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
• IT-related certification is an advantage.
• Practical training in IT-related short courses is beneficial.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an IT department within a busy organization.
• Advanced knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.
• Extensive experience with SQL and DBMSs (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Proficient in Windows Operating Systems.
• Programming experience in languages such as Python, C#, PHP, JS, or Java.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Scripting knowledge.
