Summary:
The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) is seeking 46 Health Technicians to join their team. The successful candidates will be responsible for collecting and analyzing blood specimens, performing various medical tests, and entering data for storage. This role requires a diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology, experience in the field, and proficiency in both written and oral communication in specific local languages.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology
- Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE)
- Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least a Credit in Maths and English
- Fluency in at least one of the following local languages: Ateso, Luganda, Lugbara, Luo, Ngakarimojong, Runyankole-Rukiga, Runyoro-Rutoro, Lusoga, Lumasaaba, or Rukonjo
- At least 2 years’ experience as a health technician
- Good computer knowledge
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Prior use of computers or other digital devices for data collection is an added advantage
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in all training sessions
- Collect blood specimens from eligible respondents
- Test blood samples for malaria and other specified tests
- Analyze laboratory findings to ensure result accuracy
- Operate, calibrate, or maintain equipment for quantitative or qualitative analysis
- Measure hemoglobin levels using the Hemocue machine
- Enter data from medical tests or clinical results into the computer for storage
- Provide technical information about test results to respondents professionally
- Perform any other duties as assigned
Work Hours: 8 hours per day
Experience: Minimum 24 months of relevant experience
Education Level: Associate Degree
