Ugandan chef Mama D, also known as Dorcus Bashema, made culinary history by surpassing Hilda Baci’s Guinness World Record for the longest individual cooking marathon.

On December 23, 2023, in Kira, Wakiso district, Mama D commenced her non-stop cooking challenge at 10:00 am, aiming to break the current Cookathon record of 121-plus hours.

By 8:00 am on December 26, Mama D had already logged an impressive 61 hours, signaling her strong position in the marathon.

Hilda Baci, who initially set the record in Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria, faced competition when Irish chef Alan Fisher exceeded her achievement with 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds in Japan from September 28 to October 3, 2023.

Now, Mama D strives to outdo Fisher’s record, attracting attention and support from various quarters, including government bodies, companies, and notable figures in the entertainment world, such as Eddy Kenzo.

The Ugandan chef’s determined effort has captivated the hearts of thousands, with the anticipated achievement scheduled for Thursday.
