Nalongo Maggie Kaweesi, the widow of late Ugandan musician AK47 (Emmanuel Mayanja), was laid to rest on Saturday, July 25, 2026, in an emotional burial ceremony held at Kibbugga Village in Butambala District.
Maggie, who passed away on July 20 at Mengo Hospital, was given a befitting send-off attended by family members, friends, musicians, political leaders, and well-wishers who gathered to pay their last respects.
The burial was marked by emotional scenes as relatives struggled to hold back tears while bidding farewell to the mother of twins Connie and Canaan.
AK47’s mother, Prossy Mayanja, was among family members visibly overcome with grief as they mourned the loss.
The body had earlier been transported from the funeral home to her parents’ home in Katabi, Entebbe, before proceeding to Butambala for the final burial rites.
Several entertainment personalities attended the burial to stand with the Mayanja family during the difficult moment.
Musician Jose Chameleone delivered an emotional tribute, moving mourners to tears. Other notable attendees included Sheebah Karungi, Lydia Jazmine, Weasel Manizo, and several other musicians and public figures.
Minister of State Justine Nameere Nsubuga also attended the ceremony and delivered remarks, including a call for peace and unity while cautioning against future land disputes.
Nalongo Maggie was widely known as the widow of AK47 and remained a familiar figure in Uganda’s entertainment circles for years.
Her passing has left behind her young twins, Connie and Canaan, who had earlier lost their father following AK47’s death in 2015.
