Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has arrived in Kigali for an official working visit aimed at strengthening military cooperation between Uganda and Rwanda.
During the visit, Gen. Muhoozi is expected to hold high-level discussions with senior leaders of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) and is also scheduled to meet Rwandan President Paul Kagame.
According to the UPDF, the engagements will focus on enhancing defence cooperation and discussing other areas of mutual interest between the two neighbouring countries.
The visit is the latest in a series of high-level engagements between Uganda and Rwanda, reflecting the continued improvement of diplomatic and military relations following years of strained ties.
Upon his arrival in Kigali, Gen. Muhoozi was received by Rwanda’s Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Mubarakh Muganga, the Commander of the Republican Guard, Maj. Gen. Willy Rwagasana, and Uganda’s Defence Attaché to Rwanda, Col. Ezekeil Matsiko.
The visit is expected to further strengthen collaboration between the two defence forces as both countries continue to deepen cooperation on regional security and other shared interests.
