Events promoter Twizire Nobert, popularly known as Nobat Events, has reportedly been detained at Katwe Police Station over allegations of misusing funds belonging to the Promoters’ SACCO.
The SACCO is among the cooperatives that received government financial support from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as part of efforts to support Uganda’s entertainment industry.
Nobat previously broke away from the main promoters’ group following disagreements surrounding approximately Shs10 billion in SACCO funds. He later formed his own registered cooperative, Kampala and Beyond, in an attempt to claim a share of the funds.
The promoter is a familiar figure in Uganda’s entertainment industry and was also elected LC1 chairperson in July 2026.
Nobat has previously been involved in legal disputes concerning artists and financial matters, although the circumstances of those cases are separate from the latest allegations.
The latest detention and allegations concerning the Promoters’ SACCO funds remain subject to police investigations. No finding of wrongdoing has been established against Nobat, and the allegations should be treated as such unless proven through the relevant legal process.
