Pastor Aloysius Bugingo couldn’t hold back his tears as the late Richard Muhumuza, his valiant bodyguard who lost his life in a gun attack, was laid to rest at his grandparents’ residence in Ssembabule. The emotional funeral unfolded following the shocking incident that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, resulting in Muhumuza’s tragic death and Pastor Bugingo sustaining minor injuries, subsequently being discharged from Mulago Hospital.
The burial ceremony was a poignant affair, marked by the deep grief of those present, especially Muhumuza’s family. The fallen hero left behind his wife, Jovia, who, just five months ago, underwent a c-section to bring their child into the world. Pastor Bugingo disclosed that Jovia had been residing at his home for the past five months, receiving care and support from Bugingo’s wife, Suzan Makula.
Overwhelmed with emotion, Pastor Bugingo, who considered Muhumuza a brother, couldn’t help but express the irreplaceable void left by the tragic loss. “I lost someone who is irreplaceable,” he lamented. Bugingo spoke passionately about Muhumuza’s heroism, emphasizing that he had sacrificed his life for a cause.
In a vow filled with emotion, Pastor Bugingo pledged unwavering support for Muhumuza’s grieving family, particularly his five young daughters and a five-month-old baby. “They will never lack anything. I will do everything for them until my last day in the world,” Bugingo declared, highlighting his deep commitment to honoring Muhumuza’s sacrifice.
Despite the profound grief and tears that accompanied Muhumuza’s burial, Pastor Bugingo did not delve into the specifics of the heroic sacrifice made by Corporal Muhumuza, leaving a lingering air of mystery surrounding the tragic incident.
