The police in Kamuli are actively searching for a woman who resorted to extreme violence in a marital conflict, severing her husband’s genitals and fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money.
Moses Kawubanya, 45, a respected educationist and director of Serena Children’s Home, experienced a horrific ordeal on Monday, June 10. Residing in Busana zone, Nabirumba ward, Nabwigulu sub-county in Kamuli district, Kawubanya’s day started routinely but soon turned into a nightmare.
The police, led by Busoga North spokesperson Michael Kasadha, have registered a case of attempted murder against 34-year-old Susan Namuganza, who is now at large. The incident reportedly occurred around 3:00 am at the couple’s home in Busana.
Kasadha’s statement describes a bizarre and terrifying scenario. Kawubanya had woken up early to bathe and returned to bed with a towel around his waist. Everything seemed normal until their three-month-old baby began to cry. Namuganza, apparently attending to the child, returned not with a bottle, but with a knife.
In a shocking and violent act, she attacked Kawubanya, severing his penis. Adding to the horror, she fled with an unspecified amount of money, turning the situation into a case of both assault and theft.
Despite his severe injuries and immense pain, Kawubanya managed to seek help from a neighbor. He was rushed to Kamuli General Hospital for emergency treatment before reporting the incident to Kamuli Central Police Station.
Kasadha assured the public that the police are conducting thorough investigations to uncover the full details of this grisly act and are intensifying their search for Namuganza.
