Sembabule District has honoured veteran politician Sam Kutesa by naming a key access road and a district headquarters block after him in recognition of his decades of public service.

The recognition was announced during a thanksgiving ceremony held at Sembabule Playground, where local leaders, government officials and residents gathered to celebrate Kutesa’s contribution to the district and Uganda at large.

As part of the tribute, a key road connecting a local health centre to the main highway has been named in Kutesa’s honour.

One of the blocks at the Sembabule District headquarters will also carry his name, creating a lasting reminder of his contribution to the area.

The gesture was described by speakers at the ceremony as a fitting recognition of a politician whose public career has spanned several decades.

Kutesa, who previously served as Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, President of the United Nations General Assembly and Member of Parliament for Mawogola, was praised for his role in the establishment of Sembabule District.

Speakers credited him with championing the creation of the district from the former Masaka District and advocating for development initiatives aimed at improving the lives of residents.

His supporters and local leaders also highlighted his involvement in various development projects, saying his influence helped shape the district over the years.

The thanksgiving ceremony brought together local leaders, government officials and residents, many of whom described the naming of the road and district headquarters block as a lasting symbol of appreciation.
