A video featuring city lawyer Edwin Karugire, who is famously known as President Yoweri Museveni’s son-in-law through his marriage to Natasha Museveni, has been making rounds on social media, sparking intrigue and amusement among netizens.

In the video, Karugire recounts what he describes as a ‘challenging’ experience during his first meeting with the President. According to Karugire, the encounter, which took place at Nakasero State House, was nothing short of nerve-wracking.

Karugire revealed that the meeting was arranged by Natasha, his girlfriend at the time, who invited him to meet her parents. Upon arrival, he found himself face-to-face with President Museveni, First Lady Janet Museveni, and Natasha in the living room.

Initially confident, Karugire’s nerves began to fray when both the First Lady and Natasha left the room, leaving him alone with the President, who was engrossed in watching a World War II documentary.

Despite having practiced his presentation and memorized his script, Karugire found himself instructed by the President to remain silent as he continued watching the documentary, making the silence feel excruciatingly long.

When the documentary concluded, President Museveni shifted the conversation to alcohol consumption, questioning Karugire about his habits. Feeling dehydrated and under pressure, Karugire humorously recounted his response, expressing his past experiences with alcohol in a slightly disjointed manner.

President Museveni took the opportunity to lecture Karugire on the effects of alcohol, highlighting his own resilience and proposing a challenge to prove his strength, which Karugire politely declined.

Karugire and Natasha tied the knot in 2000 and have kept their family life relatively private, shielding their children from the public eye. Karugire, a founding partner at KK Advocates, continues to navigate the legal landscape while maintaining his connection to one of Uganda’s most prominent political families.

The video has garnered significant attention on social media, offering a rare glimpse into the personal interactions within Uganda’s political elite and providing a moment of levity amidst the seriousness of everyday life.
