Next Media Services, the parent company of NBS TV, is under fire for allegedly laying off employees on New Year’s Day. The controversial move has left former staff members disgruntled and social media ablaze with criticism.
Reports indicate that the affected employees were unceremoniously informed of their termination over the phone, catching them off guard without any prior notice. To add insult to injury, the positions made vacant by the sudden dismissals have now been re-advertised, leaving many questioning the motives behind the abrupt decision.
Social media platforms became a battleground for disgruntled netizens expressing their dissatisfaction with Next Media’s alleged callous approach. Zeero Brain, a vocal commentator, took to Twitter to voice the collective outrage, stating, “Naah man, you don’t sack people in January. I tend to wonder how working at Next Media is…you work not knowing if this is your last month. Naaah.”
As the news spread like wildfire, the online community echoed sentiments of empathy and frustration for those who found themselves on the receiving end of the unexpected layoffs. The timing of the dismissals, on the first day of the new year, only intensified the public’s condemnation of the company’s alleged heartless actions.
Adding fuel to the fire, Next Media Services has re-advertised several key positions within the organization. The positions include Chief Technology Officer, General Manager of Next Productions Ltd, Head of Radio Sales, General Manager of Next Radio, Head of Group Radios, Chief Technical Officer, Multimedia Editor, and Online Content Editors for Nile Scoop, Nile Post News, and NBS Sports.
