Tooro Kingdom’s Chief Prince, Omusuuga Charles Kamurasi Akiiki, has received a major show of support from Batooro after a brand-new Land Cruiser reportedly acquired through a community fundraising campaign arrived at the palace.
The vehicle is expected to be officially handed over to Kamurasi following weeks of mobilisation among Batooro in Uganda and the diaspora, who reportedly set out to raise about Shs500 million to support the Chief Prince in carrying out his demanding duties.
The fundraising campaign attracted contributions from Batooro both at home and abroad, bringing the initiative to its much-anticipated stage with the arrival of the new vehicle at the palace.
The development comes as Kamurasi remains a central figure in Tooro Kingdom’s ongoing transition following the death of Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV. He has also played a key role in the succession process that saw Prince Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma selected as the next Omukama, Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I.
The reported gesture has generated excitement among Tooro Kingdom followers, with attention now turning to the official handover and the role the vehicle will play in supporting Kamurasi’s responsibilities within the kingdom.
