Savanna Uganda has officially entered Uganda’s mobile telecom market, marking a major shift from its roots as a fiber-to-the-home internet provider.

The company on Friday launched its new mobile network service, offering unlimited voice calls and data to existing fiber customers through SIM cards linked to their home internet accounts.

The new service allows customers to manage both their fiber broadband and mobile connectivity under one account, making it easier for families and businesses to stay connected while enjoying a single billing system.

The rollout has begun in Kampala and the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area, with plans to expand across the country in the coming months. The service is aimed at households, small businesses, and heavy internet users looking for reliable connectivity at an affordable price. Customers only need to pay a small additional fee on top of their existing fiber subscription to access the mobile service.

Speaking at the launch on June 27, 2026, Savanna Uganda CEO Alex Wanyoike described the move as a significant milestone for the company, saying it reflects Savanna’s ambition to deliver better value and reshape how telecom services are offered in Uganda.

Savanna’s entry comes at a time when Uganda has more than 61.6 million mobile subscriptions, setting up fresh competition in a market long dominated by MTN Uganda and Airtel Uganda. By combining its existing fiber infrastructure with mobile services, the company hopes to attract customers seeking faster, more reliable, and cost-effective connectivity.
