Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze has praised Ugandan music star Sheebah Karungi for courageously opening up about her battle with stress urinary incontinence (SUI), saying the singer’s honesty is helping break the silence surrounding women’s health.
Nambooze commended Sheebah after the singer shared her experience in the third episode of her podcast, “Let’s Talk About It,” where she revealed that she developed the condition after giving birth to her son.
The legislator said many women suffer from stress urinary incontinence but remain silent because of stigma, embarrassment, and fear of judgment.
According to Nambooze, Sheebah’s decision to publicly discuss the condition will encourage more women to seek medical attention and speak openly about postpartum health challenges.
She described the conversation as a bold and important step toward raising awareness about women’s health issues that are often overlooked.

During the podcast episode titled “Smiling Through It All,” Sheebah revealed that she privately battled the condition for nearly a year while continuing to perform and maintain her public image.
The singer explained that the condition affected her confidence, mental well-being, and stage performances before she finally decided to share her story.
Stress urinary incontinence is a common postpartum condition that causes involuntary urine leakage during activities such as coughing, sneezing, laughing, or exercising due to weakened pelvic floor muscles after childbirth.
Health experts estimate that nearly one in three women experience some form of the condition after giving birth, although many never seek treatment because of stigma.
