Uganda Police have temporarily paused the daily mass impoundment phase of Operation Ganyegenya, the 100-day crackdown targeting dangerous and unroadworthy commuter taxis across Greater Kampala. The operation, launched in late August 2026, saw 178 commuter taxis impounded on its first day over various road safety violations.
