Gideon Kirumira, the son of prominent city businessman Godfrey Kirumira, attributes his luxurious lifestyle to his father’s disciplined and industrious youth. According to Gideon, his father’s dedication to building a business empire rather than spending time in bars has significantly benefited him and his siblings.

“I am enjoying life because my father did not spend his youthful years partying in bars. I am a beneficiary of his hard work, which is why you can describe me as a planned kid,” Gideon shared during an interview on a local TV station.

Despite his access to luxury vehicles such as Lexus, Range Rover, Hummer, and G-Wagon, Gideon emphasizes that his father instills a strong work ethic in him and his siblings. Godfrey Kirumira ensures they work for their privileges as part of their mentoring process.

Godfrey Kirumira, the Namibian Consulate in Uganda and one of the country’s wealthiest individuals, has built a vast business empire under the GKK group. His ventures span real estate, education, petroleum, hospitality, telecommunications infrastructure, transportation, and private security.

Starting from humble beginnings, importing Hankook tires from Korea and bicycles, Kirumira’s entrepreneurial spirit has led to the development of numerous commercial, residential, and hospitality properties around Kampala. His notable assets include:

  • Kirumira Towers
  • Hotel Havana
  • Hotel International
  • Royal Complex
  • A bus company
  • Kirumira Bargary Limited (investing in the gas and fuel industry)
  • Gelp Petroleum (operating seven petrol stations in Kampala)
  • GKO Security (a private security firm)

Kirumira also collaborates with local telecommunications giants, Airtel Uganda and MTN Uganda, for network infrastructure development, specifically telecom masts.

Beyond his business ventures, Godfrey Kirumira has significantly contributed to sports and education. He served as a patron for Express FC for nearly a decade, investing in talent development by recruiting top players and offering substantial remuneration to motivate them.

In the education sector, Kirumira has established two learning institutions:

  • Bright Future Secondary School Bwebajja, located along the Kampala-Entebbe highway
  • St. Mary’s Junior School Nabbingo, a primary school offering both day and boarding options
