The Uganda Special Forces Command (SFC) has appointed Lt Col Frank Murema as the new Commander of the 16 Service Brigade, a unit responsible for providing logistical support and supporting the welfare of SFC personnel during operations.

Lt Col Murema formally took over during a handover ceremony presided over by SFC Commander Maj Gen Asaph Nyakikuru.

Maj Gen Nyakikuru described the 16 Service Brigade as the “backbone” of the Special Forces Command because of its important role in sustaining military operations.

He urged Lt Col Murema and other newly appointed commanders to prioritise teamwork, professionalism and operational readiness as they assume their new responsibilities.

Nyakikuru also emphasised the importance of strong leadership and efficient logistical support in maintaining the effectiveness of the SFC and ensuring successful operations.

Lt Col Murema’s appointment forms part of the latest leadership changes within the Special Forces Command.

The reshuffle is aimed at strengthening command structures and improving operational efficiency as the SFC continues to carry out its responsibilities.
