Igara East MP and Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Director of Mobilisation Michael Mawanda has praised PLU Chairman Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s stance against corruption, saying the military chief’s tough approach is directed at those involved in graft and abuse of public office.

“Gen. Muhoozi doesn’t play around when it comes to corruption. His tough stance is strictly reserved for the corrupt,” Mawanda said.

Mawanda made the remarks during a PLU grassroots mobilisation rally at the organisation’s chairman’s office in Nakasero, where he received a delegation from Elute North led by Dr. Tonny Opeto.

The delegation reportedly endorsed Muhoozi for the presidency ahead of the 2031 elections. Muhoozi has been promoted by PLU supporters as a potential presidential contender for the 2031 election.

Mawanda specifically pointed to the alleged theft of government funds and medicines, as well as the abuse of public office, as examples of the corruption the PLU chairman has spoken against.

Muhoozi has also publicly claimed that his leadership helped prevent the loss of more than Shs2 trillion by blocking corruption in defence and infrastructure projects. That figure is a claim attributed to Muhoozi and has not been independently established in the information available.

The comments come as PLU continues its grassroots mobilisation activities and campaigns around Muhoozi’s political aspirations. Recent PLU activities have included endorsements of his reported 2031 presidential bid by groups and former political figures.
