Luwunga Village LC1 Chairman Muwonge Muhammed and his co-accused Ssozi Abdalla have been remanded by Mukono Chief Magistrates Court over allegations linked to the illegal takeover of 311 acres of land in Luwunga Village, Nama Sub-county.
The two were remanded until August 26, 2026, after being charged over allegations that they forcibly entered the disputed land between October and November 2025.
Prosecutors allege that Ssozi falsely presented himself as the landowner and, together with Muwonge, forged sale agreements issued to some occupants and people claiming interests in the land.
They are also accused of destroying houses, crops and other property, including water tanks and pumping machines. The damaged crops reportedly include maize, cassava, sugarcane, tomatoes, bananas and eucalyptus trees, with the total damage estimated at about Shs1 billion.
The disputed land is reportedly registered in the name of Kiwanuka Stella, administrator of the estate of the late Kiwanuka Joseph Musanze.
The accused join other suspects who have previously been charged over similar allegations in the area. They will remain on remand as the case continues.
