The body of Richard Muhumuza, the fallen bodyguard of Pastor Aloysious Bugingo, has been transported to Sembabule District for his final resting place after he was fatally shot on January 2, 2024.
The tragic incident occurred when unidentified gunmen opened fire at the vehicle carrying Muhumuza and Pastor Bugingo in Namungoona, a Kampala suburb. Despite sustaining injuries during the attack, Pastor Bugingo managed to drive the vehicle to Mulago Hospital.
Police confirmed Muhumuza’s death, stating, “Regrettably, his bodyguard, Muhumuza Richard, succumbed to the assault and was confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital.”
Muhumuza, a member of the Special Forces Command (SFC), an elite force responsible for protecting the president and undertaking high-risk combat operations, met his untimely demise in service.
The arrival of Muhumuza’s casket at his ancestral home on Thursday night brought mourners to tears as they bid farewell to the fallen hero. The burial ceremony is scheduled to take place this Friday afternoon.
