Pastor Robert Kayanja of Miracle Centre Cathedral has hit back at businessman Frank Gashumba, accusing him of repeatedly attacking religious leaders and other prominent figures in Uganda.
During a sermon on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, Kayanja condemned what he described as a growing “spirit of mocking,” citing Gashumba’s remarks about President Yoweri Museveni, the Katikkiro of Buganda and religious leaders.
“There’s a spirit of mocking in Uganda. This man, Frank Gashumba, attacks everyone. He attacks the Katikkiro of Buganda, and before that, he was insulting the President. But ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!” Kayanja declared.
The remarks come amid a public dispute sparked by Gashumba’s reported Shs500 million challenge to pastors and prophets claiming to perform miracles. He challenged them to instantly heal a critically ill patient in an intensive care unit.

Kayanja also defended his ministry against allegations surrounding a court case involving boys associated with his church, saying police records and medical reports did not support claims of abuse or trespass. He further referenced a past bomb incident at Miracle Centre Cathedral while warning that Gashumba had crossed the line.
The exchange has reignited debate over miracle claims, accountability among religious leaders and the evidence critics say should support claims of supernatural healing.
