Ugandan singer and chemical engineer Ykee Benda, real name Wycliff Tugume, is celebrating a new chapter in his family after welcoming a baby with his wife, Emily Nyawira.
Ykee announced the arrival of their child on Saturday, September 26, 2026, revealing that the newborn has been named Ukwezi Hallelujah Benda.
Sharing the joyful news, the singer thanked God with the Luganda phrase “MukamaWamanyi,” meaning “God is powerful,” before playfully announcing that the little one had “joined the struggle.”
The announcement has attracted congratulatory messages from fans and friends celebrating the new addition to the family.
The baby is Ykee Benda’s first child with Emily and his second child overall. The singer already has a son from his previous relationship with Julie Batenga.
Ykee and Emily took their relationship a step further in 2025, holding a traditional Kukyala ceremony before later formalising their union. The couple also publicly shared their pregnancy journey earlier this year.
As the family welcomes their newest member, fans have joined Ykee and Emily in celebrating the arrival of baby Ukwezi Hallelujah Benda.
