Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has postponed the Kampala City Festival to 2027 over concerns about the potential risk of Ebola transmission.

KCCA Executive Director Sharifah Buzeki announced the decision on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, while appearing before Parliament’s Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) to respond to issues arising from the Auditor General’s report.

Buzeki said the decision followed concerns raised by the Ministry of Health about the public health risks associated with large gatherings.

Uganda declared its Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak over on July 28, 2026, after recording 20 cases and two deaths. However, precautionary measures have reportedly remained in place amid Ebola transmission concerns in neighbouring countries.

The Kampala City Festival is one of the capital’s major annual events, attracting crowds for entertainment, cultural performances and business activities. Its postponement means organisers and participants will have to wait until 2027 for the next edition.
