According to the Anti-Corruption Unit, the case involved charges of forgery, uttering false documents, obtaining money by false pretence and money laundering.

The case arose from a July 2025 incident in which Kavuuma allegedly used fraudulent property documents to convince a victim to hand over the money.

Besides the prison sentence, the court ordered Kavuuma to refund Shs70 million. It also directed that recovered assets, including cash, US dollars and a vehicle, be forfeited to facilitate compensation for the victim.
