Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has directed that all funds allocated for road construction in Kampala be transferred to his office within one week.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he stated:
“ALL monies meant for road construction in Kampala MUST be handed over to my office in the next week!”
The directive follows his earlier position that all road construction contracts in the capital must receive his personal approval before implementation.

Gen. Muhoozi also indicated that the UPDF Engineers Brigade will take a leading role in executing most road projects. He said the arrangement is aimed at addressing corruption, reducing wastage of public funds, and improving the quality of road infrastructure in Kampala.
The directive marks a significant shift in how road construction projects in the city may be managed and supervised going forward.
