Fear is growing in Kazo District following the reported killing of 37-year-old Amos Nuwagira, whose body was reportedly discovered in Bwizi Buremba after an overnight attack.
According to Kazo County MP Dan Kimosho, Nuwagira was allegedly attacked and butchered by unknown assailants, who reportedly fled with his motorcycle.
The incident has added to growing security concerns in the district, where the Uganda Police Force says 14 murder cases were recorded between July and September 2026.
Police have identified Nkungu, Buremba, Kanoni and Ngari as some of the areas experiencing the highest number of reported killings during the period.
According to Police, several victims were attacked using blunt objects, while suspects have been arrested in some of the cases as investigations continue.
Kimosho has called for stronger security measures in the affected communities, including the deployment of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) to reinforce Police operations.
The legislator has also called on senior government officials, including President Yoweri Museveni, to intervene as residents continue to demand urgent action to improve security.
The latest concerns come despite recent meetings between security authorities and local leaders aimed at addressing the situation.
Investigations into Nuwagira’s death and the wider spate of killings in Kazo are ongoing.
A security meeting is underway at St. Catherine girls SS in Kazo Town Council, Kazo district to address a surge of murder cases in the area.
