The Secretary General of the National Unity Platform (NUP), David Lewis Rubongoya, has shared details of a visitation day spent with children of imprisoned and deceased party members, reaffirming the party’s commitment to supporting families affected by political persecution.

Rubongoya said he was joined by Nakawa Division Mayor Nubian Li as they visited several schools to check on the welfare and academic progress of the children.

Among those visited were Jeremiah, the son of the late Olivia Lutaaya; Nangooba Margaret, daughter of Mukwaaya Edward; and Kubulangira John Ramos, son of Achileo Kivumbi.

According to Rubongoya, the visits were aimed at encouraging the children and assuring them that they have not been forgotten despite the challenges their families continue to face.

He also applauded members of the NUP diaspora, saying they have consistently raised funds to pay school fees and provide financial support to families of imprisoned or deceased party supporters.

Rubongoya described the initiative as a demonstration of solidarity, emphasizing that the party will continue standing with members and their families during difficult times.

The visits come amid ongoing concerns raised by the opposition over the welfare of families affected by political detentions and the loss of party members.
