The Uganda Police Force has broken its silence on the arrest of former Firebase Crew singer Kabaaya, while responding to allegations that he was assaulted after being taken into custody.
Kabaaya, a supporter of the National Unity Platform (NUP) led by Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, recently alleged that he was abducted by unknown individuals on July 13, 2026.
According to the singer, he was forcefully seized, brutally beaten, and later abandoned at a police station with visible injuries before eventually securing his release.
However, police have disputed parts of his account.
According to the Uganda Police Force, Kabaaya was arrested during an ongoing operation targeting the alleged use of illegal substances. Authorities say he was later released on police bond as investigations into the matter continue.

Commenting on the singer’s allegations, Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala said police are willing to investigate the assault claims, provided Kabaaya submits a formal complaint.
“If he has any complaints about being assaulted, he should officially present them to the police to enable investigations,” Kawala said.
Police have not commented on who may have allegedly assaulted the singer or whether any officers were involved.
The allegations made by Kabaaya have not been independently verified, and investigations remain ongoing.
