Sweden-based Ugandan-Congolese content creator Merveille Ansiima has become the center of a growing social justice campaign after publicly sharing allegations of how she was sexually abused by her stepfather during her childhood and now the battle has escalated with her own Mother.

Through a series of emotional videos on TikTok and other social media platforms, Merveille has recounted her experiences, alleging that the abuse began when she was 11 years old and continued over several years. She further claims that after disclosing the alleged abuse to members of her family, she was not believed or supported including her close sister, content creator Jemimah Ashuza.

According to Merveille’s public statements, some family members allegedly chose to protect the reputation of her stepfather, whom she identifies as a pastor, rather than support her claims. These allegations have not been tested in court, and no court has made findings on them.

The revelations have sparked widespread discussion on social media, where thousands of users have praised her courage in speaking out while encouraging other survivors of abuse to seek help.

A Justice for Merveille Ansiima” petition launched on Change.org has since attracted more than 24,000 signatures, with supporters calling for an independent investigation into the allegations, protection for alleged victims, and accountability if wrongdoing is established.

The petition also claims that additional individuals have since come forward with similar allegations against the same individual. These claims remain allegations and have not been independently verified or adjudicated in court.

Now living in Sweden, Merveille continues to document her life as a young mother and content creator while using her platform to advocate for survivors of sexual abuse and encourage conversations about breaking the silence surrounding abuse within families and religious institutions.
