A fresh political battle is brewing within circles of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) after Kasambya County MP and Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Executive Secretary in the Office of the National Chairman, Hon. Daudi Kabanda, openly admitted that his camp is resisting Odrek Rwabwogo’s apparent entry into active politics.
Speaking during a recent media interview, Kabanda claimed that Rwabwogo has shown clear signs of preparing to join frontline politics and warned him against what he described as taking shortcuts.
“We are fighting Mr. Odrek Rwabwogo because he is showing signs of joining politics. I advise him not to use a shortcut into coming in,” Kabanda said.
Kabanda, Rwabwogo Camps Clash
Rwabwogo, who is President Yoweri Museveni’s son-in-law and a senior presidential adviser, has in recent months become increasingly outspoken on national issues.
He heads the Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development (PACEID), and his growing public profile has fueled speculation about whether he could make a formal entry into active politics.

His increasing visibility has also triggered a public exchange with Kabanda, who is closely associated with Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba and the PLU.

Rwabwogo has recently raised concerns over issues including governance, corruption, divisions among Uganda’s political and business elite, as well as the country’s electoral processes.
Kabanda’s admission that his camp is actively resisting Rwabwogo’s political ambitions now adds another layer to the growing tensions within influential circles of the NRM.

The developments have intensified speculation about Rwabwogo’s political future, with observers closely monitoring whether he will eventually make a formal declaration to join active politics.
