Requirements for Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) Jobs 2024

Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), a semi-autonomous body, is at the forefront of producing reliable official statistics for Uganda. In line with the Uganda Bureau of Statistics Act 1998, UBOS is gearing up to conduct the National Population and Housing Census (NPHC) 2024.

This census is vital for the development and maintenance of the National Statistical System and will provide crucial socio-demographic data for planning and administration at all levels. UBOS is hiring over 130,000 temporary staff.

To ensure the successful execution of the National Population and Housing Census (NPHC) 2024 and other related projects, Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) is seeking individuals who meet the following criteria:

Education:

  • Minimum of an A-Level Certificate or equivalent.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficiency in basic computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and email.

Identification:

  • Possession of a valid National Identity Card (ID) issued by the relevant authorities.

Age:

  • Must be between 18 and 50 years old at the time of application.

Residency:

  • Must be a resident of the Parish/Ward where the position is located.
  • Proof of residency may be required during the selection process.

Community Engagement:

  • Demonstrated ability to mobilize and engage with the local community effectively.
  • Experience in community-based initiatives or projects is advantageous.

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals, including community leaders and stakeholders.

Public Relations:

  • Strong public relations skills to represent UBOS professionally in community interactions.

Smartphone:

  • Must possess a smartphone with the capability to download and use data collection applications.
  • Familiarity with data collection tools and apps is a plus.

Mobile Money:

  • Must have a registered phone number on Mobile Money in their OWN NAMES.
  • This is necessary for financial transactions and reimbursements related to the census activities.

Availability:

  • Exclusive availability for the Census activity from 1st April to 25th May 2024.
  • Candidates should be able to commit to the full duration of the census period without conflicting commitments.

Additional Notes:

  • Candidates with additional qualifications or experience in statistics, social sciences, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
  • Prior experience in census activities, data collection, or community surveys is beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential for successful completion of census tasks.
