Uganda Airlines is planning a major expansion of its network, with new international and domestic routes as the national carrier seeks to strengthen operations and grow its presence in the aviation industry.
The airline’s top executives, led by Acting CEO Girma Wake, briefed Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba at the Special Forces Command headquarters in Entebbe on the carrier’s strategic growth plans.
Management plans to expand flights from Entebbe to key destinations across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East, while also exploring domestic services to improve connectivity within Uganda.
The airline also plans to reduce operational costs by bringing aircraft maintenance and ground handling services in-house, while investing in training and developing local aviation professionals.
Gen. Muhoozi reportedly welcomed the plans and pledged his support, noting the importance of a strong national carrier to Uganda’s trade, regional integration and economic ambitions.
